Especially the original compositions, such as the „Gotan Concerto“ by Emmanuel Séjourné (born in 1961), written for the Wave Quartet and performed that evening, demonstrated the wide range of expressive possibilities that four marimbas in combination with an orchestra can offer.
The audience in Kempten showed no hesitation in embracing the unusual instrumentation and, by the end of the concert, was driven to a veritable storm of enthusiasm.
